The John R. Park Fellowship is awarded to faculty who will undertake one semester activity during the 2025-2026 academic year to study at a site outside the state of Utah with the purpose of enlarging and enriching the individual’s teaching role. Tenure-line and Career-line faculty are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants whose primary affiliation is as faculty at the University of Utah. Up to two fellows will be selected by the University Teaching Committee, subject to the approval of the Academic Senate and Board of Trustees. The deadline for applications is November 11, 2024. The University Teaching Committee is unable to accept late or incomplete applications.
Each award is for $5,000 with the possibility of an additional $5,000 going to the teacher’s department to help defray department costs for release time.
An application consists of the following items submitted electronically:
- Summary (150 word limit)
- Narrative (1,000 word limit) describing objectives, how the leave will enhance teaching effectiveness, and the reasons for selecting the site of study.
- Current curriculum vitae
- Letter of support from the Department Chair

SUBMISSION
Step 1
Download and save the Park Fellowship Application. When the application is completed, return to the Teaching Committee website and proceed to Step 2.
Step 2
After completing the nomination form, complete the Park Fellowship Submission form.
